Job Title: Sanitation Technician

Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager/ Quality Assurance Supervisor
Status: None- Exempt
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
• Follows and applies all team all safety rules, processes and procedures implemented by the company
• Has the ability to function under pressure and in all conditions.
• Performs required inspections of plant, equipment, and parts for cleanliness.
• Embraces and champions Food Safety Standards and constantly enforces them.
• Performs testing of chemicals used in sanitation, as needed.
• Observes strict sanitation specifications and procedures.
• Reacts to results of swabs from environment and product surfaces to identify corrective actions.
• Maintains sanitation inventory by identifying items that are running low and requests materials.
• Effectively interact with other plant departments, to address areas of potential food safety or quality issues.
• Works with Quality Manager on the development of cleaning procedures, Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), and test methodology.
• Responsible for managing the chemicals cage and sanitation supplies
• Assures that sanitation activities are completed on time and accordingly with Master Sanitation Schedule.
• Completes daily sanitation reports and communicates significant events to management.
• Responsible to identify opportunities for continuous improvement for the company and department.
• Perform the basic housekeeping to include clean floors, walls, ceiling, air vents, lights, etc., of the plant, equipment, and exterior of all equipment.
• Accomplish pre-operations check on all product contact surfaces including pumps, valves, agitators, alcoves and clamps before start up.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area.
• Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
• Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area. Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
Employees must be able to perform the following physical demands to successfully perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this job. The employee with regularly be required to stand, walk, reach with their arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk or hear. Employees will frequently be required to handle, install, position, or move materials/equipment. Employees will also be required to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without “giving out” or fatiguing. Employees must be able to occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
Employees will be exposed to multiple temperature environments ranging from (34°F - 100°F) Noise levels can be moderate to high in these environments as well. Employees will also be in the same room as pipes that will be hot (> 100°F), and carrying cleaning chemicals (caustics and acids).
